In our upcoming 2.5 release, we are supporting Native File Format for files tiered to object storage. Native File tiers whole files instead of storing the data in a proprietary format. Native File access has been available to IT users for several years by various object storage vendors, many of whom are InfiniteIO hybrid cloud partners.
The challenge for many IT organizations is being able to maximize their object storage investment by transparently tiering cold data to the object storage target. Unlike many other tiering solutions, InfiniteIO Hybrid Cloud Tiering with Native File Format allows customers to access tiered files directly via S3, eliminating vendor lock-in and enabling cloud-native workflows to process files pushed to object storage.
By adding Native File Format, we’re opening up great new opportunities to leverage the unlimited capacity of cloud services such as server-less computing, machine learning and big data analysis to gain insight into on-premises data sets or incorporate an S3-based tool-flow into an NFS-based on-premises workflow across use-cases.
For example, in media & entertainment , you can use InfiniteIO’s Hybrid Cloud Tiering solution to right-size your primary storage by tiering completed VFX renders to cloud storage with InfiniteIO’s Native File then enabling partners to use S3 native post-production tools on the tiered assets.
In the life sciences, a research workflow might generate thousands of protein sequencing files that are then moved to a public cloud for immediate indexing. Native File-supported tiering provides the ultimate choice in how IT organizations deploy and manage storage infrastructure and cloud-based services to maximize the value of all of their data.
By opening up universal, Native File access to any private or public cloud storage target, we’re building on our commitment to simplify and accelerate hybrid cloud storage. InfiniteIO speeds up on-premises workflows with Application Accelerator and reduces IT spend by leveraging cloud storage economics with Hybrid Cloud Tiering with zero disruption. Our next data tiering release will enable you to leverage cloud native services for greater data insight.
